Mission: This committee provides for the spiritual well-being of the church, its pastor, and its members and to oversee the church’s growth and outreach programs.

Scope of Authority: Guided by the Book of Order and the charter of the Session, and responsibilities of the Pastor. Financial resources set by Session and managed by Commitment Committee. Committee works with existing members and pastor.

Duties:

Develops and coordinates a visitation program for sick, shut-ins, and those in need of spiritual care

Arranges for shut-in communion in conjunction with pastor and Worship Committee

Oversees Prayer Chain/Calling Tree

Develops and administers a hospital and bereavement program

Consults with and advises pastor on personal ministries to members

Oversees spiritual health of the Session with the moderator

Provides support for the pastor and his family

Communicates resources of community to those in need

Makes budget recommendations for appropriate areas to Commitment Committee

Provides visitation to prospective members

Mentors new members as they enter church life

Conducts annual review of charter
